“but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
About eight years ago, a really close friend of mine introduced me to this Scripture. I’m sure I had read it before, but, like so many times, just overlooked the significance. My friend had recently lost his dad and he used this Scripture as a form of comfort. Through God’s amazing , and His everlasting, never changing Word, my friend found comfort. This brings me to another verse: “For everyone who asks receives and for the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:10. The verse prior to that states, “so I say to you, keep asking, and it will be given to you, keep searching and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9. Can you find the key word in that verse? KEEP! It doesn’t say once or twice, it says simply keep. Too often we pray about something once and that’s it. Jesus says “keep”. As children, if we wanted something from our parents and they said, “no” the first time, what did we do? Most of us would admit that we kept on asking until we usually got what we wanted. God wants us to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking. If He didn’t want His children doing this, Jesus wouldn’t have said, “keep”. My friend was hurting and I’m sure he kept asking God to send comfort. And God answered his prayer by reminding him of Isaiah 40:31. This Scripture turned out to be a verse my friend knew very well because it was one of his dad’s favorites. Can’t you see the amazing ability that God could have in you life? All He wants from us is for us to keep. However, as we keep asking, seeking, and knocking, we must remember that our time is not God’s time. That brings me back to Isaiah 40:31, “but those who trust in the Lord”. We can ask, seek, and even knock until we are blue in the face but if we don’t trust in the Lord, we will get nowhere. We must trust that God is will and able to answer our prayers. God is able to change our lives. It’s up to us if we allow Him to do so. “God is Able” is a phrase introduced to me many years ago by a very down to earth preacher. So many times I don’t remember what’s been said in years past, but “God is Able” was so simple yet so profound that it has been with me ever since. I hope if you haven’t heard this before, that those three words will mean as much to you as they have to me; short statement with a life changing message. It’s the same with Scripture. The message had to be simple, it was given to fishermen. But oh how life changing that Message is. We have to keep asking God to revel it to us. We have to keep seeking daily for what the Scripture has to offer. We have to keep knocking on the hearts of the lost. Without us sharing the life changing Message of Jesus, they will be lost forever. So you see, the value of Scripture is priceless. The price has already been paid. Paid in full for all those who will accept. The choice is ours. We will keep asking, seeking, and knocking? We will trust in the Lord and know that He is able? Will we allow God to change our lives? Or will we do nothing?
